Barcelona have rejected fresh claims they are planning for Frenkie de Jongs departure to Manchester United this summer.
TheManchester Evening Newsrevealed last month thatUnited are weighing up a potential 75million movefor De Jong and that Erik ten Hag had identified the player as a priority target. De Jong enjoyed a successful period under Ten Hag at Ajax between 2017 and 2019. The pair have a strong relationship and its understoodTen Hagwould like to bring the midfielder to Old Trafford.
Barcelonas financial problems are well documented and it appears the Catalan giants would be open to a sale, to raise some much-needed capital, so what has the club said about De Jongs future? Weve taken a look at what has been said below.

Xavi has been regularly asked about De Jong this season and he insisted he would be at Barcelona for many years in February.
For me, Frenkie is a great player. He had some discomfort in his calf which didnt allow him to play well in the Supercopa against Real Madrid, Xavi said.
Now he looks comfortable, he isnt losing the ball, hes helping in defence, hes getting into the box, hes scoring goals. Hes a player to be at Barca for many years.
Hes happy here. There are a lot of games, and well have to rotate in midfield as its very demanding physically but hes important. Hes playing at a very good level. Hes very demanding on himself. Hes a great professional and hell keep improving.

Xavis stance on De Jong stayed the same three months later, but the Spaniard did discuss Barcelonas financial issues.
I have said many times that Frenkie is very important. Hes a key player, Xavi stated at a press conference.
Then there is also the financial situation of the club and it has to be decided. Im not talking about Frenkie, in general.
More recently, the clubs vice-president Eduard Romeu denied reports that the club are planning to sell De Jong.
We have not budgeted for the sale of players, Romeu said. Frenkie de Jong? If he leaves, its a technical decision, not an economic one. But I repeat, we have planned no departure.
De Jong is contracted until the summer of 2026.
